Danielle
It's been a while, so I thought I'd put something up.

Animation Art Show - Dublin
Here is a piece I did for the Animation Art Show, which takes place in November in Dublin, Ireland. The show is organized to help raise money for 2 children's charities. It's worth checking out!

Merida
Had a really fun costume drawing session at the studio where our model posed as Merida from Pixars' Brave. She was awesome! Here are some of my gestures. Derwent Drawing Pencils on Newsprint.

Center Stage Gallery
I'm really excited that four of my pieces have been selected to be featured in "Fast Tracked Animation" an exhibit curated by CGMA, along side the signing of the Art of Turbo, from Dreamworks.
The show takes place at the Center Stage Gallery in Burbank,
California, during the last 2 weeks of July. If anyone is in the area, I think it will be worth checking out. I already know of one of the other artists, Trip Park, who's work will also be featured. He does beautiful work, and I am so excited to see the rest of the work from all the other artists in the exhibit! I feel very very honoured to be featured along side that kind of talent.

Bonny
Quick sketch of Bonny from life drawing practice. I liked her costume so I just thought I'd add an old paper texture to match the feel of her circus outfit.

Danielle
It's been a bit busy, but I wanted to post something. I finally scanned one of my costumed drawings of Danielle.

Pin Up Exhibition
A couple years ago I was invited to participate in an exhibition of Pin Up art that was held at a gallery in Paris. The exhibition toured
around France and also came to Montreal. I was really excited to be
invited to participate, as many artists like Alessandro Barbucci were
also part of the exhibit and I was honoured to be included in a project
with them. It's an old piece, but this is one of the drawings I was able to find a
scan of.

Pocahontas
Here's a quick gesture from a life drawing session. It was a really fun session with Danielle as Pocahontas.

Andreane
I haven't had a chance to post in a while, (mostly because more than half my work is done on paper and I get lazy about scanning) so I thought I'd post a quick drawing from one of my life drawing sessions.

Marie-Lyne
I thought I would put up another drawing of Marie-Lyne. She was a beautiful
model, and an artist. She treated modelling as an art form, and took
the concept of being a muse for artists to a level all to itself. She will be missed by many
artists.

Studio drawing
Sometimes when there are 10 min poses at the studio drawing sessions, I finish the drawing early and end up drawing other artists in the room. (I'm sure I'm not the only person that's ever done that in a drawing studio :P). This is a quick sketch of my friend.

Swashbucklers!
I had a great time playing around with a diverse line up of pirates. I love swashbuckling adventure, so this was really fun!

Shape Creatures
Creature designs based off of simple shapes. It's a super fun exercise! I also wanted to push the idea of design vs. drawing. It's definitely something I want to strengthen in my work.

Danielle
These are just some drawings of Danielle from my drawing session last Friday. Danielle is amazing with costumes, she really knows how to create interesting shapes and lines with the drapery, and push her poses so she always has a great silhouette. I'll scan the drawings once I get some time (they're on 18x24 newsprint) but I thought I'd just throw a picture up on the blog.

Habiba
Habiba does really great reclining poses. I love drawing reclining poses and getting the feel of gravity on the figure. I know this is a bit odd to say, but I remember one of my drawing teachers from many years ago pointing something out in a drawing with a reclined figure. It was about how the breast "spilled over the side of the torso", if I remember his words correctly. I thought that was an interesting way to articulate it, and I love the idea of feeling the fleshy-ness of the figure contrasting against solid masses, and the weight of flesh against bone, which has a different feeling from muscle against bone.

Marie-Lyne
Here are some gestures of Marie-Lyne. She's a really artistic model, I know that sounds obvious but I'm not sure how else to articulate it. She has a great awareness and appreciation for what she does. There is life and poise in her posing. Her standards are high when it comes to being an artistic muse, as she's an artist herself, and she pushes those standards in her modelling. I think it's important to be inspired by the models you draw, and you can see that she puts a lot of value on what she gives to the artist as well.
